What is Calendar?
The Calendar is your central scheduling hub in Timer. It brings all your meetings, bookings, and events together in a single interactive view. Whether you manage one-on-one consultations or team schedules, the Calendar gives you a clear picture of your day, week, or month so you never miss an appointment. It integrates directly with Google Calendar for two-way sync, supports quick meeting creation from any time slot, and provides real-time stats on your upcoming schedule.
Key Features
Multiple Calendar Views
Switch seamlessly between Day, Week, and Month views to see your schedule at the level of detail you need. Each view adapts its layout to show the right amount of information for the time range.
Quick Meeting Creation
Click any time slot to instantly create a meeting. Fill in the meeting type, title, guest email, and notes right from a compact popover without leaving the calendar view.
Google Calendar Sync
Connect your Google Calendar for two-way synchronization. Run manual syncs on demand or enable auto-sync at customizable intervals (minimum 5 minutes) so your events are always up to date.
Event Popovers & Details
Click any event to see a rich popover with full details including date, time, guest info, location, meeting link, and notes. Edit, reschedule, or cancel meetings directly from the popover.
Calendar Views
| View | Best For | Details Shown |
| Day View | Focused daily planning with hourly time slots | Full event details including title, time range, guest name, and location on each event block |
| Week View | Planning your weekly schedule at a glance | Event blocks with title, time range, guest, and location; business hours highlighted |

Stats Dashboard
At the top of the Calendar page, three stat cards give you an instant snapshot of your schedule:
| Card | What It Shows |
| Today | The number of meetings scheduled for today |
| This Week | The total number of meetings scheduled this week |
| Upcoming | The count of all future meetings that have not yet occurred |
Core Workflow

2
Create a Meeting

Interactive Features
| Feature | How It Works |
| Drag & Drop | Drag an event to a new time slot to reschedule it instantly. The calendar supports full drag-and-drop for quick rescheduling. |
| Resize Events | Drag the bottom edge of an event block to extend or shorten its duration without opening the edit form. |
| Click to Create | Click any empty time slot in Day or Week view to open the Quick Meeting creation popover with the time pre-filled. |
| Click Day in Month | In Month view, clicking on a day automatically switches to Day view for that date, letting you drill down quickly. |
| Event Color Coding | Events are color-coded by meeting type and source (Timer vs. Google). Visual indicators show past, ongoing, upcoming, and cancelled statuses. |
| Recurring Events | Recurring meetings display a repeat icon so you can easily identify them in any calendar view. |
Google Calendar Integration
Timer integrates with Google Calendar to keep your schedules in sync. Here is how the integration works:
- Manual Sync: Click the Sync button to immediately pull Google Calendar events into Timer. A spinning icon indicates the sync is in progress.
- Auto-Sync: Enable automatic synchronization from the Island Controls. Timer will sync with Google Calendar at your configured interval (minimum 5 minutes).
- Source Identification: Google events are visually distinguished from Timer-native events with different styling so you always know where each event originated.
- Token Management: If your Google authorization expires, Timer will notify you and automatically stop auto-sync until you reauthorize.
- Last Sync Time: The interface displays when the last successful sync occurred so you know how current your data is.
Best Practices
- Start with Week View: The Week view is the default and most balanced perspective. Use it as your daily driver to see enough context without information overload. Switch to Day view only when you need to focus on a specific date.
- Enable Auto-Sync: If you use Google Calendar alongside Timer, enable auto-sync to keep both calendars aligned. This prevents double-booking and ensures guests see accurate availability.
- Use Quick Create: Instead of navigating to a separate form, click directly on a time slot to create meetings. The popover pre-fills the date and time, saving you several clicks on every booking.
- Check Stats Before Booking: Glance at the stat cards before scheduling new meetings. If your Today or This Week count is already high, consider spacing meetings out for better time management.
- Add Guest Emails and Notes: Always include the guest email when creating meetings so notifications are sent automatically. Add notes to provide context that helps both you and your guest prepare for the meeting.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I switch between calendar views?
Use the view buttons at the top of the calendar to switch between Day, Week, and Month views. Your selected view is saved as your preference and will be remembered the next time you visit the Calendar page. You can also click on a day in Month view to jump directly to Day view for that date.
Can I drag and drop events to reschedule them?
Yes. In Day and Week views, you can drag any event to a new time slot to reschedule it. You can also resize events by dragging their bottom edge to adjust the duration. These changes are saved automatically.
How does Google Calendar sync work?
Once you connect your Google account, you can sync events manually by clicking the Sync button, or enable auto-sync from the Island Controls. Auto-sync runs at a configurable interval (minimum 5 minutes). Google events appear on your Timer calendar with distinct styling so you can tell them apart from Timer-native meetings.
What do the different event colors and icons mean?
Events are color-coded by their meeting type. Timer meetings use the color assigned to each meeting type, while Google Calendar events have their own visual style. Icons indicate special properties: a video icon means the meeting has a virtual meeting link, and a repeat icon means it is a recurring event. Past events appear faded, ongoing events are highlighted, and upcoming events within 15 minutes get a special "starting soon" indicator.
How do I create a meeting from the calendar?
Click on any empty time slot in Day or Week view. A Quick Meeting popover will appear with the date and time pre-filled. Select a meeting type, enter a title, add the guest email, and optionally write a note. Click Create to save. The new meeting will appear on your calendar immediately.
